About this website – a homage

The von Berlepsch family looks back on an eventful history of 800 years. That it is documented so comprehensively today is the achievement of one man: Brun von Berlepsch compiled this history over decades – from archives, charters, books and conversations – and turned it into a website that was a remarkable accomplishment for its time.

Brun has since passed away. During his lifetime he asked that his work be allowed to live on. I feel bound by that wish: I will continue to publish and maintain this collection here until something exists that does it better justice – entirely in the spirit of Brun’s request. This website gives his content a new technical form; the content itself is and remains his work.
